Sankalpa1I am sitting on my balcony here in India, doing exactly what I always wanted to do. Travel and earn my living with Reiki & Yoga. I wake up in the morning happy that a new day has arrived and then I let myself go with the flow.
Years ago when I was working in the office, this was only a distant dream. I had this picture of me sitting on some balcony and doing what I enjoy the most. Today I realized that I am living this picture.
I read many books how to realize your own potential and I have done practices, which lead to such realization. I was thinking: If someone else can do it, I can do it. But, books are far from enough. They have to be supported by action (many actions).
One of the strongest and the first actions to be made is making a Sankalpa.
Sankalpa is a sanskrit word which means “will, purpose, or determination.”

To make a Sankalpa is to set an intention. But, not just any intention which you change every day. It is not a wish. It serves a higher purpose to evolve as a human being and to achieve the desired state. Sankalpa works best when it is put consciously in the mind when the mind is receptive – just before we fall asleep or before we wake up completely and it should not be changed until it is realized.

In Yoga, Sankalpa is made during the practice of Yoga Nidra (Yogic sleep), which I have been doing for many years. Just this simple practice of making the same Sankalpa over and over again will result in your mind wanting to realize it. This will lead you to many different experiences and activities (some of them will be very hard to deal with) but eventually you arrive to the desired state. In the books it says: “Everything in life can fail but Sankalpa never fails.“

This is very true, Sankalpa is the seed that will grow into a tree. So, if you don’t know where to start: Make a Sankalpa, repeat it every day and all the rest will follow.

Wishing you all the best.
